Historic Occoquan is a community rich in history and consists of residents, artists, shops, restaurants, businesses, and a local town government.  It's outdoor dining, ghost walks, town boat dock and more are located just 11 miles south of the Capital Beltway on I-95 at exit 160 and then north on Gordon Blvd/Rte 123 to Commerce Street.  Directions to Historic Occoquan are available at Google Maps.

Occoquan is located at 38°40′58″N, 77°15′39″W and is accessible by car, boat, raft, bike, and foot traffic.  Access is available by road, river and the East Coast Greenway.

Occoquan is also conveniently located just minutes from the Amtrak Auto Train stop in Lorton, VA.  Unlike a plane or the car, the auto train provides onboard entertainment, a lounge car and a dining car as it takes both you and your vehicle on a stress free journey to Florida.  So when you next consider a trip to Florida, please remember your opportunities of shopping and dining in Historic Occoquan before you depart or upon your return.

  • The Artists’ Undertaking Gallery in Historic Occoquan presents:

    "Diana Through Colored Glass"

     
    • Featuring fused glass sculptures and jewelry by David & Dale Barnes of Sterling, VA. and acrylic paintings by Roger Frey of Woodbridge, VA.
    • The gallery is open 1100 Hours - 1700 Hours (11:00 AM – 5:00 PM) daily and is located at 309 Mill Street in Historic Occoquan, VA.

January 21 (Saturday)

  • Free Wine Tasting at the Olde Dominion Wine Shoppe
  • The Coffee House of Occoquan is having it's third Open Mike for this month starting at 1900 Hours (7:00 PM).  The event is  free.  The entertainment by a variety of local musicians is entertaining, and the Hot Chocolate that is served is the best in Town. 

January 21 (Saturday) - March 4 (Sunday)

  • The Loft Gallery is hosting their not to be missed Biggest Sale of 2012!
    • Savings of up to 70% on original art by 21 Local Artists

  • The Cock and Bowl is offering a cooking class with Chef Dan from 1900 Hours - 2030 hours (7:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
    • Chef Daniel is hosting this MEN ONLY class and walks you through a romantic menu that is simple, but impressive.
    • The cost of $35, includes wine, meal, instruction, and take home materials.
    • Classes are small, and last approximately 90 minutes

February 11 (Saturday)

February 14 (Tuesday)

  • The Cock and Bowl is offering a cozy, casual, and romantic dinner with your special someone from 1600 Hours to 2200 Hours (4:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
  • Cost is $80 per couple and the Cock and Bowl are currently taking reservations for this special night, so give them a call at 703-494-1180 to reserve your table today while tables are still available.

February 15 (Wednesday)

  • It's Wednesday and the Cock and Bowl is having their sweet all day deal of $18 for Mussels, frites & a Belgian brew.  They do have more if necessary, but that's extra.

February 18 (Saturday)

  • Free Wine Tasting at the Olde Dominion Wine Shoppe
  • The Coffee House of Occoquan is having Open Mike starting at 1900 Hours (7:00 PM).  See what everyone is talking about and if you have a hankering, join in, a guitar might just be optional. 

February 22 (Wednesday)

  • If it's Wednesday then the Cock and Bowl is having their sweet all day deal of $18 for Mussels, frites & a Belgian brew.  They do have quite a selection of Belgian brews too.

February 25 (Saturday)

The Loft Gallery is hosting "From Oquossoc to Occoquan: an Artist’s Journey"

  • Featuring original paintings and drawings by award-winning artist Kathleen Best Gillmann
  • The exhibit includes landscapes and waterscapes extending from Oquossoc, Maine, to Occoquan, Virginia, with a detour to Minnesota's Lake Superior.
    • As an outdoor enthusiast and Maine native, Ms. Gillman interprets nature in its many moods, the mercurial qualities of water, the subtle and vibrant textures of foliage, and the effects of atmosphere, sunlight and weather.
    • For three consecutive years, her dramatic landscapes have juried into the Art League’s annual International Scapes Show, winning an honorable mention for her most recent submission, "Beach Houses at Lord’s Point."
    • Her work is also online at her blog, "Very Best Fine Art," at www.artbykbgillmann.blogspot.com.
